The main goal of the School is a series of invited lectures of about three hours each. The following main speakers have accepted our invitation to deliver lectures (with tentative titles):The sixth International Summer School on Evolution Equations EVEQ 2004
will be held in Prague, Czech Republic, in the week
July 12-16, 2004
Eduard Feireisl (Prague): Mathematics of viscous, compressible, and heat conducting fluids.
Francois Golse (Paris): Derivation of the Navier-Stokes equations from the Boltzmann equation.
Bernd Kawohl (Köln): Isoperimetric inequalities and qualitative properties of solutions to elliptic PDEs.
Alexander Mielke (Stuttgart): Rate-independent evolutionary systems and their applications in continuum mechanics.
Kevin Zumbrun (Bloomington): Stability of shock waves in gas- and magnetohydrodynamics.
We do not plan any other oral communications. All
participants are nevertheless encouraged to present their results in a
written form on posters.
The School will be classified as an official HYKE conference in the framework of the European research project HYperbolic and Kinetic Equations. Members of HYKE teams may apply for financial support.
The lectures will take place at the Faculty
of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University in Prague - Troja.
The conference fee will be of 250 EUR (late payment
280 EUR after April 15, 2004).
We are able to provide accomodation in double rooms in a student dormitory.
Together with breakfast and lunch, the price will be about 30
EUR per person and day.
A single room accommodation can be arranged at
the additional supplement 15 EUR per day.
Participants from less favoured countries may apply for reduced fee of 150 EUR (late payment 170 EUR after April 15, 2004) which includes double room accomodation with breakfast and lunch. (Unfortunately, only a limited number of applications can be satisfied.)
The payment should be made preferably by single bank transfer to the account of the Mathematical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic at
Ceska narodni banka, Praha, Czech RepublicAlternatively, a check can be sent directly to the contact address below. According to new rules in the international money transfer, the participants are asked to write all of the above coordinates in the payment order. Please, include also "Mathematical Institute AVCR" as the receiver institution. To avoid any problems with the identification of your payment, please send a short e-mail message to the contact address.
