INFLUENCE OF CONTACT STRESSES ON RESULTS OF THE BALL ON THE THREE BALLS TEST
Investigator: Ing. Zdeněk Chlup, Ph.D.
Number of Project: MEB060714
Agency: Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports
Duration: 01. 01. 2008 - 31. 12. 2008
The main aim of proposed project is to clarify influence of contact stresses on resulting strength value when proposed ball on the three balls test is used. The main problem can be seen in possible nucleation of cone crack below the loading ball what can leads to the premature fracture of test-piece. Understanding of this feature is necessary for correct and possibly wide use of this ball on the three balls test. Both the FEM calculation and the experimental proof of numerical simulation will take place in this investigation.
