Subject of research
The project proposed represents a continuation of the previous investigation of shear flows with vortical structure and is focussed upon the description and analysis of structural vortical or global rotational nature of the flow, vorticity transport, dynamics and interaction of large-scale vortices. In the first part, an advanced stage of the analysis of extensive experimental data sets for shear flows with vortical structure (namely single and double turbulent wakes, and single and double turbulent jets in crossflow) will be performed. Secondly, the direct measurementsat the cooperating academic institution abroad and the analysis of experimental data for with vortical structure will be carried out, or the numerical simulation of a shear flow using finite element method and the nanalysis of numerically generated data sets will be performed. Thirdly, global characteristics of the swirling axisymmetric wall jets on bodies of revolution will be examined.
Subject of research
Vortical nature of selected shear-flow types was described and analyzed, especially dynamics and interaction of vortical structures. A new concept of vortex
identification based on the decomposition of motion near a point was proposed.
