Experimental data sets for verification and formulation of rheological and statistical models of suspension flow

  • Identification: 26001 - Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
  • Duration: 1991 - 1993
  • Principal investigator: Ing. Pavel Vlasák DrSc.

Purpose of the proposed grant is to create databases of stochastic interactions of the f low of liquid-solid particle mixture. The databases will be used to determine the deformation of Kolmogorov parts of turbulent spectra, two-points correlations of velocity fields, sedimentation of the cloud of particles and non-Newtonian flow characteristics of highly concentrated suspensions. The databases will be made up using experimenla1 results of suspension flow and sedimentation in different closed conduits for laminar, transitional and pseudoturbulent flow regimes. LDA, radioisotope and sensor methods will be used. In development of LDA and radioisotope methods and their application in hydrodynamics the team of applicants for the grant has reached results with world priority. Data processing will be based on stochastic methods, mechanics of continuum and discrete system including theory of chaos. The database will be utilized for the formulation of statistical and rheological models describing suspension flow.
