Since its establishment in 1990 the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic has developed independent editorial activities in its own publishing house FILOSOFIA. Its mission consists in informing the Czech and foreign professional public about the important original philosophical work of the Institute's researchs and those of other philosophical centres. Apart from original works this publishing house also issues the proceedings of symposia and scientific conferences organized by the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (mostly with foreign participation and in cooperation with other scientific institutions). The editorial programme also includes Czech translations of important texts of modern philosophy and further philosophical literature needed for instruction at universities. The editorial series Studie a prameny k dejinám myšlení v Ceských zemích (Studies and sources for the history of thought in the Czech Lands) brings important works from the history of Czech thought. The edition Morální a politická filosofie (Moral and political philosophy) is devoted to the broad context of contemporary practical moral, social and ecological philosophy to the philosophy of state, law and politics. The edition Parva philosophicaintroduces a series of small monographs by outstanding thinkers of the present times.
