About us
Our research group concentrates on long-term projects in modern philosophy, primarily in rationalism, empirism, philosophy of enlightenment and German classical philosophy. Its focus of interest is in the areas of epistemology, ontology, ethics, theory of right, anthropology and political philosophy. The research is coordinated with other departments of the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic as well as with the Institute of Philosophy and Religion Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University. We also cooperate with research institutions in Germany and United States. The research seeks to give an account of some of the central problems of modern philosophy, primarily that of the form of rationality of the modern world. Much of the work of the group consists of comprehensive scholarly, edition- and translation projects which cannot be undertaken at universities.
