Professor Ladislav TONDL
born 1924
full professor at the philosophical faculty Charles University in Prague
Studied philosophy, sociology and economy at the Charles University in Prague. Associate professor and from 1968 full professor. Director of the Institute for Theory and Methodology of Science at the Czechoslovak Academy 1968, 1969, President of Science Policy Commission UNESCO 1968-1970, Honourary Life member of the Association for the Philosophy of Science, USA, member of some learned societies abroad, of editorial boards of some international journals and book editions.
Because of political reasons dismissed of the Charles University after 1950 and after the invasion 1968 of the Academy, worked many years in the Institute of Information Theory and Automation in Prague engaged in the problems of logical semantics, scietific procedures, relationship between modern information theory and decision theory. After the Soviet invasion dismissed of the Academy and worked in the sphere of computer-aided design and computer-graphics in a design organization. After his full rehabilitation in 1989 Head of the Centre for Science Technology and Society Studies, Academy of Sciences Czech Republic and full professor of Charles University in Prague in the year 1990-2003.

Ladislav Tondl, Centre for Science, Technology and Society Studies, Institute of Philosophy, Academy of Sciences Czech Republic. He is one of the pioneers of the Prague semiotic studies, full professor, PhD. In the totalitarian regime, he was obliged to change many times his job, nevertheless, he published, mainly abroad, many works connected with philosophy of science, philosophy of technology, logical semantics, semantical information theory, the role of questions, semiotic foundations of a dialogue and other semiotic topics.
