27.8.2008 - IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FOREIGNERS FROM THIRD COUNTRIES
Nowadays, the research workers can apply for the long-term residence permission (not anymore for the visa granted for a stay longer than 90 days) for the purpose of scientific research.
* The application form must be submitted by the foreigner at the representative office of the Czech Republic in the country of his/her residence. * On the territory of the Czech Republic (Department of Alien Police) the foreigner may apply for the long-term residence permission for the purpose of scientific research, only if the residence visa for more than 90 days or the long-term residence permission for another reason has already been granted * On the territory of the Czech Republic, it is not possible to apply for a permission if the foreigner is a holder of a tourist visa for a stay up to 90 days With the application form for the long-term residence permission, it is necessary to submit: * Hosting agreement * Written obligation of the research organisation * Passport (travel document) * Photograph * On request, a document equivalent to extract from the crime register from the country of which the foreigner is a citizen (eventually from other countries where the foreigner stayed in the past) * On request, a medical report Prior to receiving the long-term residence permission, the applicant must submit a travel medical insurance document for the period starting with the entry day to the Czech Republic when the applicant will be insured according to a special legal regulation (it concerns only those foreigners who apply for the first permission at the representative office of the Czech Republic. The deadline for the disposal of the long-term residence permission for the purpose of scientific research is 60 days, starting from the day the application was submitted. The application for renewal of the long-term residence permission for the purpose of scientific research must be submitted 90 days, at the latest, before the expiration of the current permission.
