Physical and chemical modelling of secondary pollutants production and propagation in urban and rural areas

  • Identification: IAA3040101 - Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
  • Duration: 2001 - 2004
  • Principal investigator: Ing. Zdeněk Zelinger CSc. (J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry ASCR)
  • Co-investigator: RNDr. Zbyněk Jaňour DrSc.(Institute of Thermomechanics ASCR)
  • Co-investigator: Ing. František Dittrt

Subject of research

On the basis of previous project of GA AS CR, we propose next simulationexperiments of air pollution by the method of physical modeling. We plan to develop new point and areal sources of pollutant emissions for simulation in the wind tunnel. New methods of concentration monitoring on the basis of FID (flame ionization detector) and diode laser spactroscopy will be introduced. Spectral and kinetic studies of influence of photochemically reaction intermediates of atmospheric interest will be performed. Their analytical application for physical modelling of chemical processes in the atmospheric boundary layer and secondary pollutants production and propagation in urban and rural areas is proposed.

Research Goal

Investigation of reaction intermediates within transformations of atmospheric pollutants, their spectroscopic and kinetic studies, influence on pollutant formation and distribution, modelling in the simulated atmosphere on the models.
