National Parks on the Curonian Spit

Čeřovský J.

p. 137-139
The Curonian Spit is a remarkable geomorphological phenomenon on the Baltic coast on the frontier of two countries — Lithuania and the Russian Federation, the latter being the Kaliningrad Region. Valuable sand dune habitats with psamophytic and halophytic vegetation, pine forest and other sites harbouring many plant and bird species are protected in two national parks, one Lithuanian and the other Russian.
