Omelková M., Chytil J., Schlaghamerský J.

The ant Liometopum microcephalum occurs in southern Europe and in Asia Minor and it reaches the northwestern limit of its distribution range in South Moravia and in Slovakia. In Moravia, it has survived at a few sites, mainly along the Dyje/Thaya river. It prefers well-preserved floodplains with forests. The ant´s occurrence and current knowledge of its bionomics in the Křivé jezero National Nature Reserve in the Pálava Protected Landscape Area are explained by the authors.
