An initial aim of this work is to enable Europe to meet the urgent technological need for implementation of lead-free soldering interconnection in electronics, in support of Community policy. Mobilisation of the necessary critical mass of research and development will further result in establishing Europe as an international scientific leader in electronics interconnection.
