Activity-Related Fluctuations in Extracellular Ion Concentrations in the Central Nervous System
E Sykova
The aim of this review is to describe methods for the direct measurement
of ionic activity in neural tissues, to present a survey of the data on
the activity-related extracellular ionic fluctuations in brain and spinal
cord, and to outline their possible significance as modulators of neuronal
and synaptic activity.
