Hydrodynamic and rheological behaviour of viscoelastic liquids in technological junctions and elements of extrusion units

  • Identification: 26002 - Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
  • Duration: 1991 - 1993
  • Principal investigator: Petr Filip CSc.

We propose to carry out the fundamental research of:

  • the conditions under which rheologically determined polymer processes fail due to instabilities causing shape and structural defects;
  • the suitable criteria determining the stability regions of these processes. Research goals:
  • to determine experimentally the regions of characteristic variables expressing behaviour of viscoelastic liquids in capillaries and extrusion dies;
  • experimental analysis of stress state in viscoelastic liquids and analysis of factors leading to relaxation anomalies and flow defects at the exit from capillaries and extrusion dies;
  • classification of viscoelastic liquids according to the outflow characteristics considering geometric, kinematic and time aspects of the f low.
