Subject of research
Viscosity of polymer melt subjects to a series of parameters. Influence of two of them - shear rate and temperature - is continuously very thoroughly analysed. Comparatively the same influence is exerted by pressure. However, in literature the appearance of this parameter is very scarce in spite of the fact that - as it was allready proven - in some branches of polymer processing, especially in injection molding, the role of high pressure - with respect to viscosity - is dominant. Research will be carried out both experimentally - the apparatus used will be a capillary rheometer with the downstream chamber being held at a high back presure by means of a needle valve and equiped with a pressure transducer, this experimental setup will enable to determine viscosity for the wide range of pressure; and theoretically - derivation of shift factors respecting pressure-volume-temperature effects, these factors will substantially influence determination of master curves.
Research Goal
Analysis of influence of pressure on viscosity of polymer melts was carried out using specially proposed chamber attached to a high-pressure capillary rheometer.Additive factors respecting influences of pressure, free volume and temperature were derived.
