Phase equilibria in Zn-Sn-X metallic systems for high-temperature lead-free solders
Investigator: RNDr. Aleš Kroupa, CSc.
Number of Project: OC08053
Agency: Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports
Duration: 01. 01. 2008 - 30. 06. 2011
The aim of this project is to study the multicomponent systems, which are possible candidate materials for the high temperature lead-free soldering, mainly from the point of view of the thermodynamic properties and phase equilibrium diagram assessments (WG 1). These results will serve as a background for evaluation of other physical and mechanical properties of prospective high-temperature solders. The study will cover materials convenient for soldering in the temperature range 230-350 °C, and are very important for the applications in the aerospace and automotive industry or for soldering in combination with multilayered metallisations, etc. The basic systems can be characterised as Sn-Zn-X (X = Al, Mg, Ni, Pd, Sb).
