Role of Structure of Crosslinked Polymer Matrix in Particulate Composities. Multiscale Modeling and Experimental Verification.

The project aims at developing a model of the properties of the particulate composites with crosslinked polymer matrix. Particularly, the relation will be correllated between crosslinked matrix structure and matrix elastic behavior on one side versus deformation behavior of the composite responding to mechanical loading or swelling stresses on the other side. Network structure will be modeled using statistical and kinetic simulations. Elasticity will be expressed involving the junction fluctuation and finite extensibility models. The aim involves model predictions for composite swelling changes and stress-strain relations for swollen composite. The resulting model will take into account crosslinked polymer matrix structure on the molecular scale for predicting the stress-strain behavior of composite on macroscopic scale. The results will be tested experimentally on model composite series. Composite deformation behavior, composite swelling and deformation behavior in swollen state will be tested. Also, the composite damage at large strains will be modelled and tested.
