Study of the effects of micellar additives on heat transfer and pressure losses

  • Identification: GA101/06/1478 - Grant Agency of the Czech Republic
  • Duration: 2006 - 2008
  • Principal investigator: Ing. Václav Mík CSc.
  • Co-investigator: Prof. Ing. Jiří Šesták DrSc. (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,
    Czech Technical University)

Subject of research

Object of the research is the study of flow behaviour of a special fluid system under specific conditions. The aim of the project is to obtain reliable basic data, which would serve for engineering computation and design of mechanical engineering equipment and particular heat transfer devices when drag reducing liquid is used as heat carrier. Special emphasis will be given to the hydrodynamic and thermodynamic phenomena, which take place during the heat transfer, and experimental investigation isa necessary verification of the process. Past successful research in some particular regions of drag reduction will be taken into account. The future research will involve experimental investigation of heat transfer promotion by means of a special installation built in the exchanger, investigation of the temperature influence on effectiveness of additive drag reduction, and heat transfer and investigation of different factors affecting the durability of surfactant solutions.
