Most of the existing models of eutrophication of lakes and reservoirs are neglecting the temporal and spatial changes of nutrient load and planktonic diversity, which limits the prediction precision of these models, especially for long-shaped reservoirs. The aim of our project is to analyze the seasonal variability of phosphorus and carbon cycles along two reservoirs of different size and nutrient load. For this purpose, main phosphorus fluxes and other chemical and physical variables will be measured in both reservoirs. The data will be used for calibrating a model of hydro- dynamics and eutrophication processes. The model will be employed for evaluating the influence of hydrometeorological conditions on plankton productivity and also for revealing the influence of the presence of plankton communities on hydrodynamics in non-homogenous water bodies. This model would be also useful for the rational design of nutrient load control of lakes and reservoirs.
