Soil water regime in head water regions of the Czech Republic affecting runoff formation under environmental changes

  • Identification: S2060104 - Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
  • Duration: 2001 - 2006

To achieve the objectives of the project the following research activities are assumed:

  1. to transform the verified research methodology for the observation of the soil water regime to the operational methodology of the early warning system in the short-time scale (floods);
  2. dtto in the medium-time scale (changes of the soil water regime, biodiversity, biodegradation);
  3. o quantify the water balance of a soil profile (evapotranspiration, surface runoff, outflo below the soil profile, etc.), to identify the principal attributes of the soil water regime;
  4.  numerical modeling of the local soil water system responses to individual rainfall events in order to describe and quantify the different behavior of hydrological systems;
  5. experimental research based on the long-term monitoring in the head water regions (national Parks ©umava and Krkonoąe Mts., Jizerské hory Mts.);
  6. a determination of soil hydraulic properties (laboratory experiments and inverse modeling).
