Geology of the Upper Silesian Basin
Objective
The objective of the conference is to provide a discussion of the scientists working in the branches of geology, petrology, coal petrology, sedimentology etc. of the Upper Silesian basin. The main common themes of the conference should be the presentation of new results and ideas concerning to the geology of the Upper Silesian basin.
Topics
- Geology, petrology, tectonics and sedimentology of Carboniferous in the USB.
- Stratigraphy and lithostratigraphical correlations of Carboniferous in the USB.
- Basinal modelling and physical properties of rocks and coal.
- Environmental problems.
Venue
The conference will be held in the Institute of Geonics AS CR in Ostrava, the Czech Republic, in October 11 - 13, 2006. The conference is organized by the Institute of Geonics AS CR (scientific guarantee: Prof. Ing. Petr Martinec, Ph.D.).
Languages
The official languages for the conference will be Czech, Polish, Slovak and English.
Technical exhibition
The space will be available for exhibition of research, projects, publications, instruments, computer systems and software. Exhibitors are asked to complete the reply form.
Conference tour
One day geological excursion will be organized for participants and accompanying persons.

Papers
Authors who intend to submit the papers are requested to send the paper till 1st September 2006. The paper cannot include more than 6 pages. The paper in Czech, Polish, Slovak or English with English abstract should be send on CD-ROM with one printed copy to the conference secretariat. Text of contribution should be written in MS Word and figures should be in TIFF, JPEG or BMP format. The conference proceedings will be published as a special issue of Documenta geonica of the Institute of Geonics AS CR.
Accomodation
Conference participants will be able to choose from a wide variety of accomodations ranging from low-cost rooms to the first class hotels.
