Visitor's Center

In spring of 2005 the Visitor's centre of the Institute of Botany ASCR, v. v. i. was opened. Visitors to the Centre will learn in an attractive way about the scientific activities of the Institute of Botany and the history and present Průhonice Castle and Park. The Castle is a popular venue for wedding ceremonies. The Visitor's centre is also available for weddings as well as for holding conferences, seminars, presentations, company meetings, workshops, board meetings, plenary sessions, etc.
 

Memorial Hall of Count Ernst Emanuel von Silva-Tarouca

In the Castle there is the Count Ernst E. Silva-Tarouca memorial hall, dedicated to the founder of the Průhonice Park and Castle in their present form. The permanent exhibition gives an overview of the history of the locality, the influential aristocratic owners of the Castle and its further development in the 20th century. On display are unique historical photographs of the interior of the Castle. At the entrance of the Park you can buy a brochure that describes and illustrates this exhibition.

The following items can be purchased at the entrance to Průhonice Park

  • CDs with information on Průhonice Park, Castle and the Institute of Botany with a number of photographs and pictures of the exterior of the Castle as well as work being done at the Institute of Botany. The CD also contains a short film on this topic.
  • Texts from the exhibitions in the Count Ernst E. Silva-Tarouca memorial hall, including historical photographs
  • Postcards and maps of the Průhonice Park
