The flow of`microdispersions (colloids, polymeric and biological liquids) is accompanied with the apparent wall slip (AWS) effect. This poorly understood phenomenon. is both of pragmatic interest (viscometry, filtration, stickiness, coagulation) and structural relevancy. We have developed a computer-aided method of determining both the viscous and AWS effect by treating viscometric data. We aim at obtaining reliable AWS data for a spectrum of polymeric solutions and clay suspensions by implanting this method into the rheometer R5100 (HAAKE). We hope to correlate these data with some coagulation and electroviscous characteristics. The rheometer will be used to relate the viscoelasticity and AWS of dough with its process characteristics, as well. In addition, the new rheometer will serve in teaching engineering rheology for the students of PICT and Fac. Mech. Eng.
