Transient processes and luminescence upconversion in
zero-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures
Abstract:
Recent time resolved experiments on electronic relaxation in semiconductor
quantum dots samples show an incomplete relaxation from electronic excited
states, a fast depopulation of electronic ground states and a luminescence
upconversion (anti-Stokes luminescence). We present an interpretation
of these effects in terms of electron-LO-phonon scattering in 0D
nanostructures. In addition to this, we show that a similar mechanism
of electronic scattering can lead to an upconversion of electronic
distribution to wetting layer states.
