Econophysics: statistical physics of interacting agents

Abstract:
We will present an overview of recent developments in the interdisciplinary field of physics applications in economic modeling (Econophysics). Based on the empirical analysis of scaling and critical behavior of economic indicator, we develop agent-based models for price fluctuations and wealth distribution. The effect of inter-agent imitation and hearding is studied within the framework of evolutionary games, while the spreading of opinions in the society is investigated in an Ising-like model.
