Restless molecules

Abstract:
We close the Year of Physics 2005 by a little hommage to Einstein's work on Brownian motion. We shortly review the history of the Brown's discovery and try to put the contribution by Einstein into contemporary perspective. This will involve theory and applications of Brownian molecular motors, as well as nonequilibrium statistical mechanics of single-molecule systems, like DNA.
