Status of the Participant of the
UNESCO/IUPAC Postgraduate
Course in Polymer Science
Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of
the Academy
of
Sciences of the Czech Republic
- The course participant is considered as a foreign
guest of the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Academy of
Sciences of the Czech Republic under a special regimen.
- The course is organized under the sponsorship of
UNESCO and IUPAC.
- As a rule, the course starts on October 1 and ends
on July 31 the following year.
- The official language is English.
- The Institute reimburses the daily expenses of the
participant.
The reimbursement is paid on the basis of a preliminary budget in
monthly payments and is calculated according to the days of presence in
the Czech Republic.
- The Institute provides and pays for the
accommodation for the course participants.
- Basic health insurance is provided by the Ministry
of Health of the Czech Republic according to special regulations.
- The Institute reimburses the proven costs for
obtaining visa in Czech crowns, paid by the participant.
- The Institute provides a free course of English
for the participants at the Department of Languages of the Academy of
Sciences of the Czech Republic.
- The Institute organizes a lecture course in
English for participants on research in general and on special topics
of polymer science. The lecture course starts usually in January and it
lasts until the end of June.
- The Institute makes it possible for the course
participants to take part in the scientific events of the Institute,
such as lectures, colloquia and symposia.
- The Institute provides a special training for the
participants by research work on a research project supervised by a
senior researcher with the use of available methods and equipment. As a
part of the training the participant uses library and its services.
- The Institute makes it possible for the
participant to publish the results as a coauthor together with the
leader of the project and those who participated in the research.
- Presentation of the results obtained in the frame
of the research project is a part of the course. The participant
usually presents the results in a lecture at a seminar before he/she
leaves.
- The Institute can afford the participant two
weeks off at the most (ten working days) throughout the course for
travels outside the Czech Republic. In such a case, the scholarship
will be adequately lowered (see item 5).
- It is obligatory
for the participant to get
acquainted with the rules of the Institute on work safety and health
protection.
- The Institute
issues the Certificate about
finishing the Postgraduate course for the participant.
- The participant is obliged to keep
the valid
regulations of the Institute, in particular those regarding the
attendance, purposeful spending of hours of work, laboratory work
safety and economy. Furthermore, the participant is obliged to
participate regularly in the lecture course as well as in language and
professional training, to inform his/her supervisor about the obtained
results. Unless he/she obtains a written permission of the Director of
the Institute to present his/her results, he/she will keep secrecy
about the unpublished results for five years after finishing the
course.
- The Director of the Institute is entitled to
terminate the stay of the participant at the Institute if he/she
seriously violates this Statute, hotel rules or the law of the Czech
Republic.
