Long-term and periodic radial-velocity variations of BU Tau
An analysis of systematic series of red spectra of the known
Be star BU Tau (28 Tau, Pleione) clearly shows systematic
long-term radial-velocity (RV) changes of this star. After their
removal, a pattern of low-amplitude periodic RV variations
was found which seems to confirm firmly the previous identification
of BU Tau as a binary star. Complications met during the RV
measurements and data analyses will be discussed in some detail.
Additional effort will be needed to decide whether the binary orbit
has a significant eccentricity or whether it is essentially circular.
