The geophysical surveys in archaeologically non-excavated areas of czech oppids
RNDr. Roman Křivánek (A8002301) 2003-2007
The 5-year project is focused on a systematic area non-destructive land survey of archaeologically non-examined parts of five oppidums located in Bohemia (Hrazany, Nevězice, Stradonice, Třísov, Závist). The objective of the project is to search the archaeologically selected extensive localities and identify the development of the surface unpreserved remnants of fortification systems, identify the places of most intensive settlements or other anthropogenic activities in both internal and external parts of the oppidums and in the intact surrounding of formerly completed archaeological surveys. Unlike in area-limited archaeological surveys, the major method shall comprise much less demanding (in terms of finances and time) area geophysical, particularly magnetometric survey, completed with other geophysical methods. A complementary method consists (survey of ploughed areas) with systematic field walking, preboring, based on historical maps, results of previous excavations and GPS.
