Mgr. Rastislav Korený (PK01P04OPP011) 2001-2004 (assistant contractor ARÚ Praha – R. Křivánek, M. Kuna)

The project aims to develop methods of documentation of archaeological sites being currently damaged by the illegal use of metal detectors and other factors. The main target of the project is the prehistoric hillfort of Plešivec which belongs to the most important Bronze Age sites in Bohemia.

The project includes:

  • Rescue excavation in the area of the main gate A, that has been recently damaged by illegal field activities.
  • Smallscale test pitting within the hillfort area.
  • Geophysical survey of the area by cesium magnetometers and metal detectors carried out under strict spatial control and methodical guidance.
  • GPS-survey of the anthropogenic relief features within the hillfort.
  • Archival work and revision of earlier finds from the area.
  • Surface artefact survey of the territory around the hillfort.
  • The Institute of Archaeology Prague
