Interaction Tick – Host II. Host Defensive Reactions

Matějovská T.

p. 5-6
A host reacts through a defensive reaction in the place where a tick enters its body. This reaction includes both a non-specific and a specific component. A non-specific reaction takes the form of inflammation, which spreads very rapidly, while a specific immune reaction appears only after long and repeated tick sucking. This article explains the molecular principle behind these reactions in particular.
