E. Grégr is mostly associated with his political career and with his editorship of the daily newspaper Národní listy. Not too much is known about Grégr’s scientific activities and his participation in editing the journal Živa. He not only contributed his articles, but together with J. E. Purkyně he was the joint editor–in–chief of Živa in the 1861–62 period and from 1867 he was responsible for its printing.
