Winter in Alaska. Fauna and Human Settlement in Central Alaska

Štorchová H., Štorchová Z.

Alaska was an entrance gateway for human settlement of America during the glacials. Not only in the past, but also in the present, the region has been among the few areas on Earth with wilderness affected by humans only to a small extent. Thus it is a suitable area for the study of various adaptations to extreme environmental conditions in different wild animal species, for example hibernation.
