Floods, Soil, Global Changes and Other Circumstances - III

Rusek J.

Human activities have caused changes in the soil, which affect soil functions as well as those of whole ecosystems and landscapes. These are characterised not only by chemical degradation and changes and loss of humus, but also extinction of soil organisms and decline in biological soil-forming processes. The process reduces the water sorption capacity of soils when the landscape is not able to hold rainstorm water and water erosion in soils and floods occur.
