Prorhinotermes simplex - acinus II
Parietal cells occur usually in couples. Three other cells in this figure are central cells involved probably in hydroquinone production. Basic types of cells forming acini; parietal cells, central cells producing proteinaceous secretion (those with dark vacuoles) and cetral cells (with lucent vacuoles) producing hydroquinone (female neotenic reproductive of termite Prorhinotermes simplex).
