Innovation Biomedical Center
The Innovation Biomedical Center is a newly built facility located in the close vicinity of the Institute of Experimental Medicine, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, in Prague-Krč. It was constructed from August 2007 to March 2008. The project was financed with contributions from the EU and the city of Prague.
Center for Cell Therapy and Tissue Repair
The Center for Cell Therapy and Tissue Repair combines a number of sites. Important findings have been made in stem cell transplantation in models of pathologies of the central nervous system, pancreas, liver, epidermis, brain and spinal cord, the labelling of cells with superparamagnetic nanoparticles, the development of imaging methods and the development of materials for tissue repair.
Center for New Antivirotics and Antineoplastics
The Department of Pharmacology takes part in pharmacological research, for instance in the discovery of substances with immunomodulatory activity, significant in HIV therapy.
Center for Neuroscience
The Center for Neuroscience joins together significant research sites in Prague in the field of neuroscience and takes part in research into the mechanisms of ionic channels, glial cells, synaptic and extrasynaptic transmission, the central mechanisms of hearing and pain, and the mechanisms underlying brain and spinal cord diseases.
