The Tamaraw - the Dwarf Bovid from Mindoro

The Tamaraw (Bubalus mindorensis) is a dwarf buffalo species from the island of Mindoro in the Philippines. Since the ungulate lives hidden in the restricted distribution range and is not kept in zoos, its bionomics are not adequately known. At present, the Tamaraw is critically endangered and its numbers are estimated at only 20-30 individuals.
