Roots of Willows along Water Reservoirs and Watercourses

Water and wetland plants can compen¬sate for a restricted supply of oxygen (hypoxia) in different ways. Willow (Salix spp.) roots are adapted to hypoxia through anatomy. During their growth four large ventilation ducts are developed.
