Abandoned Landscape of the Doupovské hory Region

Vojta J., Kopecký M., Drhovská L.

Large tracts of abandoned landscape in Doupovské hory are particularly suitable to study the complexity of successional patterns. Mixture of sparse shrubs and closed secondary forests form highly diverse landscape. The finegrained mosaics of habitats support coexistence of diverse species typical of open landscape as well as of forest stands. Wild animals and extensive grazing contribute to the conservation of the landscape character.
