New Evidence of the Origin of Birds IV. The Development of Nesting

Oldřich Fejfar

This article describes known ways of nesting and egg types in dinosaurs in relation to offspring-rearing. Feathers were in a co-evolutionary relationship to other early stages in the rearing of the young. Therefore they were more developed than skeletal features in the Archaeopteryx. Further development of offspring-rearing can be considered as the basic principle for pre-adaptation for the development of flying.
