One of the ways to stop or at least reduce biodiversity loss consists in the appropriate kind of protected area management, provided that protected areas also include habitats reflecting a specific extensive historical management procedure. When managing such habitats, it is important to achieve the target status, but by applying measures which will maintain their biodiversity. The author presents examples of inappropriate measures against site overgrowth, when various invertebrate developmental stages, e.g. critically endangered butterflies or orthopterans, are destroyed. Measures designed to perform such management without affecting the biota are presented.
