New Data on the Stone Crayfish.

Fischer D., Bádr V., Vlach, Fischerová

The Stone Crayfish (Austropotamobius torrentium) is thought to be one of the rarest animal species in the Czech Republic. However, its distribution across the country has not been known in any detail. In 1999, its occurrence was confirmed at one site only. Stone Crayfish distribution was mapped from 2000 to 2003. In addition to the previously known sites, new localities inhabited by the invertebrate species have also been found. Habitat requirements, threats and risk to the species and effective protection measures are discussed in this article.
