The Quagga - 120 years since its Extinction

The Quagga (Equus quagga) was described from South Africa in the late 18th century. During less a century, it became extinction due to over-hunting without knowledge of its bio-nomics. Probably, last quaggas in the wild became extinct in the 1870s and the very last indi-vidual died at the Amsterdam Zoo on 12 August 1883.
