Since the 1960s the Heřmanický rybník Fishpond in the North Moravia has been used for managed filling with saline, heavily mineralized water from mining and for subsequent mixing and dilution. The authors studied the possible effects of fishpond salinity increased by such activity on species composition and the numbers of water fleas (Cladocera) and seed shrimps, also known as ostracods (Ostracoda).
