Institute of Mathematics

of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic

The Institute of Mathematics, founded in 1947, is the leading research institute for mathematics outside the university structure in the Czech Republic. The Institute performs advanced research in mathematics and theoretical computer science, collaborates intensively with other academic institutions in the country and worldwide, contributes essentially to sustaining the high level of mathematical research in our country, transfers modern mathematical knowledge, thinking, and methods to society via applications and education. News

•	Visiting scientific position openings, application deadline January 31, 2011.

Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic invites you for the 10th Week of Science and Technology, the largest scientific festival in the Czech Republic. Doors Open Days of the Institute will also be held during that week (information only in Czech).

•	October 14-17, 2010 Colloquium on Differential Equations and Integration Theory in honor of our late colleague Štefan Schwabik will be held in Křtiny u Brna, Czech republic. More information is available here.

On June 21, 2010, our colleague - Michal Křížek - and his co-authors - Lawrence Somer and Alena Šolcová - received Josef Hlávka award for scientific literature administered by the Czech Literary Foundation and Josef, Marie and Zdeňka Hlávkových Foundation for the book Magic of Numbers (Kouzlo čísel).

•	The journal Applications of Mathematics has got IF 0.410.

•	On June 2, 2010 two of our colleagues - Emil Jeřábek and Jiří Šremr - received Otto Wichterle's Premium administered by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
