Metro The Prague Metro system consists of 3
lines designated by letters: A-line (Skalka station - Dejvicka station),
B-line (Ceskomoravska station - Zlicin station), C-line (Nadrazi Holesovice
station - Haje station), with transfers possible at Muzeum station (lines
A and C), Mustek station (lines A and B), and Florenc station (lines B
and C). The Metro is in operation daily from 0500 to 2400. The Prague Metro
system is shown on Map.
Trams Daytime operation is from 0430 to 2400.
Night-time operation is from 2400 to 0430 and is provided by special night
trams. Tram schedules are posted at individual stops.
Buses The daytime and night-time operation of
buses is similar to that of trams. Bus schedules are posted at individual
stops.
Fares Passengers must obtain transport tickets
before boarding a bus or tram or entering the Metro system. Tickets can
be purchased at selected Metro stations or in Dopravní podnik Information
Centres, hotels, news stands, travel agencies, etc. Single tickets can
also be bought from automatic machines located at Metro stations.
REGULAR TRANSFER TICKET 12 CZK A regular ticket is valid for journeys
of unlimited length, including transfers, completed within 60 minutes of
first use of the ticket, and must be punched when first entering a tram,
bus or the Metro system.
NON-TRANSFER TICKET 8 CZK A non-transfer ticket is valid for surface
journeys (trams, buses) of 15 minutes or less, without transfers. In the
Metro a non-transfer ticket is valid for a journey of 4 stations (excluding
the station of entry) and allows transfers between Metro lines; the complete
journey must be completed within 30 minutes of first use. Non-transfer
tickets are not valid on night trams and buses.
Please respect these regulations to avoid
any unpleasant encounters with public transport ticket inspectors and possible
fines.
TOURIST TICKETS
for 24 hours, 70 CZK.

for 15 days, 280 CZK.
- these tickets are valid for all city transport
facilities and allow transfers. The name and birth date of the owner must
be filled-in prior to use.
Taxis Within the city of Prague, there are price
regulations which specify maximum taxi rates; the registration number and
price list must be displayed on both front doors of the cab. Visitors are
strongly recommended to order a taxi through non-stop dispatching offices
where fare information is available in advance. The customer has the right
to ask the taxi driver for a proper receipt of payment.

Driving The Highway Code in the Czech Republic
is basically the same as that in other European countries. However, the
following should be kept in mind:
drive on the right
safety belts must be worn at all times
maximum speed is 90 km/h, in towns and villages
50 km/h, and 130 km/h on highways
a special sticker for highway use can be purchased
at border crossings or petrol stations for 800 CZK
driving is prohibited after the consumption
of any amount of alcohol

Transport to the Airport The airport is located on the north-west
outskirts of Prague, some 20 kilometres from the City Centre. In addition
to taxis and buses (No. 119 from Metro line A, Dejvická station, No. 108
from Metro line A, Hradcanska station, or No. 179 from Metro line B, Nove
Butovice station) you can also use shuttle buses or microbuses with departures
from Namesti Republiky station, Metro line B, or from Dejvicka station,
Metro line A.
