The article describes a trip to the Crested Coot (Fulica cristata) reintroduction station in Andalusia, Spain. The Crested Coot is a protected species with the main distribution range in Western Africa. In Europe it can be met at a few localities on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The main threat to the species is habitat loss and confusion with Eurasian Coot (atra) during hunting.
