The Fabeae tribe contains some of the most important grain legume crops, namely Lathyrus, Lens, Pisum, Vicia and the monotypic genus Vavilovia. Reconstructing its phylogenetic relationship is essential for understanding the origin and diversification of this economically and ecologically important group of the Leguminosae. Pea (P. sativum) as one of the oldest domesticated crops, is the third most widely grown legume. This study also links the genetic diversity to species evolution as well as agronomical use.
