Belief and Doubt in David Hume

An International Conference in Prague, Villa Lanna, September 6th-8th 2011



Keynote Speakers included: Don Garrett, M.A. Stewart, Peter Millican, Udo Thiel, Georges Dicker and J.P. Wright.

 

This conference, on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of David Hume’s birth, aimed to bring together philosophers working on the many epistemological themes in Hume’s thought  -  on his theories of belief, evidence, induction, probability, testimony and scepticism - as well as contributions on the epistemological questions relating to Hume’s treatment of religion, causation and the self.

 

Programme

The conference was organised by ÚFAR at Charles University, Prague, and the Institute of Philosophy in the Czech Academy of Sciences.

The organising committee: James Hill, Petra Ivaničová, and Michal Peliš.
