Monitoring, interpretation and modeling of mining induced seismicity in
Karvina region forcefully on influence of vibrations on surface structures

Mining induced seismicity and deformations of terrain can be associating effects of mine exploitation on the undermined territory where empty subterranean spaces are created and larger contents of rocks are re-transferred and the primary balanced state of rock massif stress is redistributed. When the limiting states of rocks elasticity parameters are exceeded, a brittle fracture is induced and it results among others in mining induced seismic event. Department of geophysics runs long term seismological measurements and their evaluation in the Karviná region and also experimental measurements of mine seismicity influences on chosen objects (e.g. electrical smoke-stack in Dětmarovice; church in Orlová) and geodetic surveying on margin and within subsidence depression. Moreover we do mathematical modeling of seismic response of buildings in this area on the developed vibrations (cooperation with VUT Brno and VŠB – TU FAST Ostrava).
